Automotive Applications – Stainless Steel Tube & Pipe

Automotive systems face heat, pressure, vibration, and corrosion. YES Stainless International supplies welded stainless steel pipe and seamless/welded stainless steel tubing to ASTM A312, A269, A213, A249, A268, A554 for exhaust, fuel, brake, emission control, cooling, and structural components.

Main Automotive Applications

  • Exhaust systems: Manifolds, front/mid/tail pipes, mufflers, flex pipes
  • Fuel systems: High-pressure fuel lines; feed/return lines
  • Brake & hydraulic: Brake lines; ABS/ESP circuits
  • EGR, turbo, emissions: EGR pipes/coolers; turbo oil lines
  • Cooling & EV battery: Coolant, HVAC, battery thermal circuits
  • Chassis/structural: Frames, brackets, roll structures, trims

1. Exhaust Systems – Welded Stainless Steel Tube & Pipe

Automotive exhaust system made from stainless steel tube and pipe, supporting high heat performance, corrosion resistance, and reliable fabrication for OEM parts.

We supply welded stainless tube and pipe for manifolds, front/mid/tail pipes, muffler shells, perforated cores, and flex sections. For OEM exhaust lines, ferritic grades such as 409, 439, and 441 provide a cost-effective balance of high-temperature oxidation resistance and durability. For higher corrosion resistance and premium or performance applications, austenitic grades such as 304 and 316L are commonly used.

Typical ASTM references for exhaust tube and pipe

  • ASTM A268 – Ferritic stainless steel seamless and welded tubing
  • ASTM A312 – Austenitic stainless steel welded pipe for larger exhaust sections
  • ASTM A554 – Welded stainless steel mechanical tubing for muffler shells and decorative exhaust parts

2. EGR, Turbo & Emission Control – High-Temperature Stainless Tubes

Stainless steel in automotive applications, showing material use for exhaust and formed components where heat resistance and corrosion protection are required.

Modern emission control systems expose materials to hot exhaust gas, condensate, and frequent thermal cycles. For these components, buyers often select austenitic grades such as 304L, 316L, 321, or 347, depending on required temperature resistance and corrosion performance.

Typical ASTM references for EGR and turbo tubes

  • ASTM A213 – High-temperature seamless austenitic tubes, ideal for EGR coolers and hot gas sections
  • ASTM A269 – General service austenitic tubing for medium-temperature zones
  • ASTM A312 – Austenitic stainless steel pipe for larger-diameter hot exhaust sections

3. Chassis & Structural Components – Mechanical Stainless Tubing

Automotive industry applications of stainless steel tube, pipe, and strip, supporting heat service, corrosion resistance, and reliable fabrication for OEM components.

Stainless steel tubes and pipes are also used in selected structural and mechanical applications, especially where corrosion resistance, strength, or appearance are important. For these applications, buyers often choose welded mechanical tubing in grades 304 / 304L or economical ferritic grades such as 409 / 430 / 439, depending on required strength, appearance, and corrosion resistance.

Typical ASTM references for structural and mechanical tubing

  • ASTM A554 – Welded stainless steel mechanical tubing (round, square, and rectangular)
  • ASTM A312 – Standard stainless steel pipe where structural designs follow pipe sizes
