1. Is ASTM A213 a pipe or a tube standard?

ASTM A213 is a tubing standard. Many buyers use “pipe” informally, but A213 specifies tubes by OD × wall (not schedule).

2. When should I choose A213 over A249?

Choose A213 seamless for higher pressure/temperature or when a seam-free construction is preferred. Choose A249 welded when the spec allows welded tubes and you want the cold-worked weld + final heat treatment route for heat-exchanger duty.

3. What grades are most common?

Austenitic TP304/TP304L and TP316/TP316L cover most services. For elevated temperature stabilization, TP321/TP347 are often selected.

4. What tests are included?

Per ASTM A213: chemical and mechanical results, flattening/flaring (as applicable), hardness, and hydrostatic or ECT. We can add PMI and extra dimensional reports per your PO/ITP.
