ASTM A269 Stainless Steel Seamless Tube

As a stainless steel seamless tube manufacturer, YES Stainless International supplies ASTM A269 seamless products for instrumentation, utilities, and general-service lines. Our seamless tubes are furnished annealed with AP (annealed & pickled) or BA (bright annealed) surfaces, manufactured with strict OD, wall, ovality, and straightness controls for clean flow and reliable fit-up. Typical grades are 304/304L and 316/316L for broad corrosion resistance. Each shipment will include EN 10204 3.1 MTC, dimensional checks, and agreed hydrostatic or eddy current (ECT) testing, with export-ready packaging to protect the seamless tubes

What is ASTM A269 Seamless Tubing?

Seamless A269 tubing is made by piercing a billet and hot-working or cold-drawing to the final size without any weld seam. This structure delivers a smooth ID, uniform strength, and dependable performance for instrumentation, process utilities, auxiliary heat-transfer coils, and hydraulic/pneumatic lines. Dimensions are specified as OD × wall, and the specification defines chemistry, mechanical properties, heat treatment, tolerances, and tests to ensure long-term service.

Key Features of ASTM A269 Stainless Steel Tubing

  • Seamless construction: No weld seam for strong wall integrity and smooth internal surfaces that support clean flow.
  • Tight dimensional control: OD, wall, ovality, and straightness held within A269 tolerances for precise routing and instrumentation use.
  • Annealed & clean: Delivered in the annealed condition with AP or BA surfaces to simplify fabrication and welding.
  • ASTM-compliant verification: Chemical & mechanical results with hydrostatic, dimensional, and appearance checks documented for each lot.
  • Export-ready: Film/paper interleave, and moisture control to protect the stainless surface in transit.

FAQs

1. Is A269 a pipe or a tube standard?

A269 is a tubing standard. Buyers sometimes say “A269 seamless pipe,” but the specification defines OD × wall tubing rather than schedule pipe.

Seamless has no weld seam, offering a smooth ID and uniform strength. Welded ASTM A269 tubing provides strong value and fast lead times; the choice depends on pressure, cleanliness, and budget.

Standard surfaces are AP and BA. For higher cleanliness or cosmetic needs, we can provide mechanical polish or electropolish upon request.

We document chemical and mechanical results and perform hydrostatic, dimensional, and appearance checks. Other inspection tests can be included when specified in your PO/ITP. Certificates and reports ship with the order.

Our stainless steel pipes and tubes are typically supplied in 6 m lengths. To reduce damage risk and optimize freight, we recommend a full-container load of about 20 MT. However, we also accept smaller orders. Share your size mix and destination, and we will propose safe packing and the most economical shipping plan.
