On May 28, 2025, the U.S. Department of Commerce issued its final determinations in the antidumping investigations on welded stainless steel pressure pipes from Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam.

The scope of products includes circular welded austenitic stainless pressure pipes with outside diameters up to 14 inches, typically produced under ASTM A312 or ASTM A778 specifications. The ruling confirmed that producers from these countries were selling below fair value, causing harm to the U.S. domestic industry.

According to the U.S. Commerce Department ruling:

  • Malaysia faces a final dumping margin of 46.46%,

  • Thailand is set at 8.59%,

  • Vietnam receives a significantly higher rate of 109.98%.

HTS Codes Involved:
7306.40.5005, 7306.40.5040, 7306.40.5062, 7306.40.5064, 7306.40.5085
Also possibly under: 7306.40.1010, 1015, 5042, 5044, 5080, 5090

This decision could significantly affect sourcing strategies in the U.S. market. Importers may now look for alternative stainless steel pipe suppliers that offer reliable origin, stable pricing, and strict ASTM compliance—without the risk of trade penalties.
